Here is the rough cut of my album cover. To start with, is the title. When a band releases an album, predominantly, the album name will always be consistent. An example of this is Oasis title. From there first album "Definitely Maybe" to their latest album "Dig Out Your Soul" there title has been virtually the same, the same font, same colour and also the same size.

As you can see, the title is in the left hand corner, they have the same font, same black back drop with the white font, and the same space.
This shows how well this band has done with their album covers, due to the fact they have worked so well, they do not need to alter the title for any reason. I also have taken into consideration consistency when creating my title. I have gone for a very plain title font, which is very effective because it is taken seriously, it is not cheesy, it is very easy to read and it also stands out very well. I have underlined the band’s name so people know this is the name of the band, and also makes it stand out against the back drop more. I decided to alter the font of the song name "White Straight Line" due to the fact I believe it gives the album another dimension. The font is a lot lighter hearted compared to the font of the title. I myself believe it looks a bit like graffiti, which allows it to stand out against the road, and almost makes it look like it has been placed on the road its self. Again consistency, is again important for me, I have used the same font on the back of the album cover. When it comes to font on an album cover, the album does not want to be covered in 5 different fonts. They're needs to be a set font throughout the cover. When an album is covered in a lot of different fonts, it can look very childish and not very formal.
The picture had to be taken into consideration and also had to be relevant to the title of the song. When first thinking of a photo for the front page of my front cover, I always had in mind a picture of this relevance. At first I took photos with me on the white line, looking down the line and even photos from above. A lot of trial and error was used when taking and using the front album picture. The front album picture has to be something unique and eye catching. This is due to the fact this is first glimpse, people when see buying an album. So this needs to grab your attention immediately and I believe mine does this. The picture again serves a relevance to the title of the song, I believe it gives the audience an insight to what the person is looking at and also makes you wander, what is at the end of the road. The colour scheme is very basic. I used Photoshop to edit the left and right area. I used a black and white filter to take your eyes away from there, and focus them on the only part which colour still exists, and that is between his legs. The Mise-En-Scene was also taken into consideration. I believe using white shoes with a smart suit does this photo justice. This is an unusual combination because you do not see white shoes with a grey suit very often, and I believe this eliminates any type of generic photo where a person is standing in an ordinary suit.
