Evauation Question 2- How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary task

What is my main product, my main product was to create a music video within my genre in which I choose, which happened to be indie. I also had to create a digipak which consisted of an album cover and also a poster for my song. I believe there is a strong symbiotic relationship between my video and my ancillary tasks which I have worked hard to make sure they both work together hand in hand. Here is how I did so.

First of all, the first thing my video and ancillary task has in common is the same Mise-En-Scene. In my video, I wear a very smart suit throughout the video to show I have been somewhere smart, but on the other hand in the video, I am drinking, so this suggests I have been to a party or there has been a brake up. In my ancillary tasks, you see me wearing the same suit which is shown in the video, this shows consistency and familiarity between the audiences. The name of my song is "White Straight Line". In my video, there is a shot of me walking on the road, after the lyrics finish, the camera pans downwards to the floor and looks at the white line. I incorporate the white line into my ancillary task very clearly; it is very clear what I am talking about due to the ancillary task which is very important.

I decided to put a black and white tint of the front cover of my album due to the fact in my video; it is very gritty and somewhat depressing. I believe adding a black and filter on the photo, it still has this depressing sad feel to the photo, but I feel this to be a good thing due to the fact I am relating to the video and still sticking to my theme. If the album would of been shot on a sunny day, with trees and sunshine about, this would not stay with the theme I am trying to achieve with my both my video and ancillary task, so consistency is an important matter.

Font is an important factor when creating a front cover. I did not want to choose a very childish font like comic sans for example because it would not work with the photo or the image I am trying to create. So in order to find the best font for my title, I decided to look for a very simple, formal and unique font, like my video. When I found the font I am currently using, I was very happy with how it looked against the back drop and also the simplicity of it.

Moving onto colour, colour was a simple choice for me. It was between black and white. In the end I chose white. This is because, the title and the name of my song are both placed against something dark on my cover, so I believe the white really makes it stand out a lot more better than the black would, although I do use black font on my advert, this is used on the ratings given by the magazine, Again this is simply used because the writing is against a light backdrop so a black font would really make it stand out more. I also believe using white font is a must due to the name of the song being "White Straight Line" this also gives it an intriguing effect. As you can see throughout (apart from exception of the advert and a line on the booklet) the colour of the font is white, and again remains consistent.

I believe my ancillary task and my video is effective due to the constant referral between the both of them which is a massive positive because it creates an atmosphere between the both of them, and also informs the audience into what the song is about, and what the band is trying to create. I also believe this refers to my band image, that you can tell genre of the band is indie and also gives it a professional outlook.
